2021 Competitions Review - HWJC Judo Team
Our judoka entered a total of 12 competitions from September to December 2021. We now look back at the results and feel that somehow, together, we are achieving our five main targets:

- Increase the number of players
- Increase the retention of players
- Increase the number of high grades
- Successful competitions
- Good coaching
11th and 12th December 2021 - British Junior & Senior Championships (Sheffield)
An amazing day for HWJC at the British Junior Championships with some strong performances in competitive groups:
5th place -60kg Jamie Drew
7th place -55kg Jesse Chraniuk
9th place -66kg Sam Elliott
Top 16 & into the crossover -73kg Marc Hunt
From the 7am breakfast pre brief right to the end of the day all 4 judoka gave everything they had. Great to have the support of HWJC coaches watching via the live stream too. The future is looking very bright.
4th and 5th December 2021 - British Pre Cadet and Cadet Championships (Sheffield)
Plenty of mat time and strong performances from the HWJC team at the British Championships this weekend:
5th place Ellie James Pre Cadet -57kg
9th place Jesse Chraniuk Cadet -55kg 3 wins & into the crossover
Josh Herliyh Cadet -60kg 2 wins
Marc Hunt Cadet -73kg 1 win

27th November 2021 - Judo Festival u8s (Hounslow)
A fantastic start on the competition pathway for Frankie and Oscar who both only started their judo journey in May this year. Today they attended the Osterley Judo Club U8’S JUDO FESTIVAL and they both won 1st place medals.
Thank you to the parents for taking them to Hounslow.

14 November 2021 - Rod Lane Senior & Masters Kyu Grade Open (Kidderminster)
🥉BRONZE - Phil Hastings
Another fantastic result today at the Rod Lane Kyu Grade Open. Phil Hastings won 3 out of 4 fights to come away with a well deserved bronze medal congrats Phil!

A good bit of quality mat time before the British Champs in Dec. Well done also to Jamie Drew for getting 10 points towards his 2nd Dan.

30th October 2021 - Dan Grading at High Wycombe Judo Centre
Huge congrats to Sam Elliott who won the line up for his 2nd Dan at HWJC grading today continuing his impressive form. Points & experience were also gained by Iain Saunders (30 points), Tom Wood, Luke Grilli (10 points), Dan Cuadrado (20 points), Laura Plumridge (20 points) & Mel Dutton (20 points).

Today brought 5th place finishes for Luke Grilli (30 points) and Dan Cuadrado (10 points). Plenty of mat time and experience gained also by Tom Wood, Ian Saunders and Joe Chraniuk. Well done to everyone who fought this weekend

🥇GOLD - Antony Ashton - Masters
Congratulations to Antony Ashton who won 4 fights in Tours, France this morning winning a GOLD medal and to Daniel Cuadrado who won 2 out of 4 fights and gained some valuable mat time. Nice work from both Masters today Ant also won a bottle of champagne for Best Ippon

4th September 2021 - English Closed Championships UEL
Huge congratulations to the HWJC judoka who fought their socks off today at the English Closed Championships at UEL Sportsdock. Results were:

A fantastic bronze medal for 🥉Antony Ashton in Lille today at the Eurometropole Masters and more fighting experience for 🏅 Daniel Cuadrado in a very tough competition. Well done guys!
